Dr. Langdon to Present CO2 Laser Resurfacing at the Annual American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery Meeting

February 01 03:48 2019

Dr. Robert Langdon of The Langdon Center will be attending the 2019 Annual American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery meeting, which will take place January 31st through February 2nd at Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando.

The meeting unites cosmetic surgeons from across the country and gives them an opportunity to learn about the very best surgical techniques and strategies that lead to positive patient outcomes. During his time at the meeting, Dr. Langdon will present about Carbon Dioxide (CO2) laser resurfacing.

While CO2 laser resurfacing is a very effective way to rejuvenate the facial skin, it can lead to a lengthy recovery time. Conventional CO2 resurfacing involves the physical removal of the coagulated epidermis after the first pass, followed by one or more passes to enhance tissue contraction. This can lead to significant risks including postoperative infection, prolonged erythema, pigmentary alteration, and hypertrophic scarring.

In an effort to reduce the risks associated with conventional CO2 resurfacing, a single pass method was developed. Single-pass CO2 resurfacing involves gently and precisely passing a laser beam over the surface of the skin one time.

This procedure typically takes 30 minutes and offers a variety of benefits such as fast healing, minimal side effects, improved skin tone, and a reduction in wrinkles, acne scars, brown spots, and sun damaged skin. It’s a very effective way to remove skin that’s wrinkled, aged, and/or scarred.

After single pass CO2 resurfacing, patients will be asked to apply topical ointments and may have to take prescribed medication. They are welcome to cover any pink areas with powder or makeup. Most patients will notice immediate results that continuously improve over time.

One pass CO2 laser resurfacing is recommended for patients who are longing for the benefits of conventional CO2 resurfacing but cannot afford the lengthy recovery time and are searching for a less risky alternative.
